How our pricing works

Most complaints about locksmiths are not about the work but about the bill: a low "from" price on the phone, then a call-out fee, a mileage charge, an emergency surcharge and materials nobody mentioned. We do it differently. You hear one fixed total price before we come out, covering travel, labour, materials and VAT. If you say yes, that is the amount you pay.

If it turns out on site that more is needed — say the cylinder is worn as well as the key being lost — we explain it, give you the new price, and you decide again before we carry on.

What affects the price

• The job. Opening a door is not the same as replacing a multi-point lock or repairing burglary damage.
• The time. Daytime rates are lower than nights, weekends and public holidays. You always know the rate in advance; an emergency is not an excuse to charge whatever we like.
• The material. A standard cylinder costs considerably less than an SKG three-star security cylinder with anti-snap protection.

What is always included

• Travel anywhere in Amsterdam and the surrounding towns — no call-out fee and no charge per kilometre.
• Labour and fitting, including leaving the door working properly.
• The materials we fit, with the matching keys.
• VAT — the price you are quoted is the price you pay.
• An itemised invoice you can use for your insurer, employer or owners' association.

Paying, and guarantees

You can pay by card or Tikkie on the spot, and cash is accepted. Companies, landlords and owners' associations can be invoiced. Materials carry the manufacturer's warranty, and we guarantee our own work: if the door does not close as it should after we have been, we come back.

A word on suspiciously cheap quotes

If a locksmith quotes a very low price over the phone without asking a single question about your door, be careful. It is a known pattern in the Netherlands: a low headline figure, then a long invoice once the work is done. A reliable locksmith asks what kind of door and lock you have, tells you a total, and puts it on a specified invoice afterwards. That is what you are entitled to, from us or from anyone else.
